Advanced Initiator Training

Star Sapphire Lodge is delighted to announce that we will be hosting U.S. Grand Lodge Advanced Initiator Training on the weekend of December 5th - 6th, 2009!

Advanced Initiator Training is designed for Chartered Initiators who have already attended one or more Certified Initiator Trainings and seek to advance their knowledge, understanding and skills as an Initiator. All current Chartered Initiators are highly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. All Presenters are seasoned O.T.O. Initiators and are either Certified Initiator Trainers or SGIGs with years of education and experience in initiating in the Man of Earth Degrees.

Attendees must be Master Magicians in good standing with a minimum of one attendance of a Certified Initiator Training workshop. Our sister body, Golden Lotus Oasis, is offering Certified Initiator Training on October 24th and 25th; a perfect opportunity to prepare to qualify for the Advanced Training!

Chartered Initiators will be given preference in terms of registration, but Master Magicians preparing to submit applications for a Charter to Initiate and who have attended Certified Initiator Training are welcome. All events will be held at:

soon I will be discontinuing my posting activity on LJ..my first step in becoming 'social network' free by the end of the year.

In the year 2000, I broke down and purchased a DVD player for one purpose..to play the Twin Peaks Season 1 DVD's that had come out (my first DVD purchase).

Now, many years later, and because I work in the entertainment industry, I had to upgrade to Blu Ray.

Associates at work told me that regular DVD's are processed in a way to simulate the HD quality of Blu Ray. I was very skeptical until I put in one of the TP episodes from the Gold Box set. I could not believe my eyes at the detail.

I wonder how the CBS discs will compare to the Artisan set...

In this presentation we will examine the cultural biases embedded in our subconscious by dint of our upbringing in a world shaped by the Abrahamic faiths. For contrast, we'll compare Western Abrahamic to Eastern Taoist approaches with respect to light and dark, male and female. Finally, we will consider the role of Crowley and Thelema in restoring balance to the Western tradition and psyche.

Sewn, printed on library-quality paper. English language texts [64pp.] + facsimile of the original Hebrew manuscript [158pp.]. Edition limited to 358 numbered copies. The book centers on a Hebrew manuscript entitled 'Sepher Maphteah Shelomoh,' that dates from around 1700. The original manuscript was discovered in the library of a London Rabbi, Samuel Marcus Gollancz (1819-1900), by his son, Hermann, not long after his father's death. Hermann Gollancz, himself an eminent Hebrew scholar, was fascinated by the manuscript, and felt that its study might give important insight into the history and origins of the "Solomonic" grimoires or books of magic, that are a mainstay of the Western occult tradition. In 1903 Gollancz published his preliminary thoughts and translations in a booklet entitled 'Clavicula Salomonis, A Hebrew Manuscript,' and in 1914 he published a facsimile of the manuscript, along with a twenty-page English-language Introduction discussing the text, under the title Sepher Maphteah Shelomo in an edition of only 300 copies. Both books are extremely rare, and have never before been reprinted. The first section comprises the English-language Foreword and Introductions, and is 64 pages: printed on quality uncoated paper for easy readability. The remaining 158 pages (the facsimile of the original Hebrew manuscript) are printed on special coated paper, that gives a photograph-like quality to the reproduction of the manuscript, with its numerous drawings of seals, talismans etc. In keeping with tradition, it has been printed so that the English text, which is of course read left to right, is back-to-back with the Hebrew facsimile, which is read from right to left. This past weekend, a new Master was installed at LVX Lodge. The past five years were the most exciting, nerve wracking, productive, heartbreaking, and inspiring years I've yet had in the OTO.

I wanted to say something very brief about our Past Master, magdalena_lvx, not as a former Secretary, former Treasurer, Webmaster nor any other such capacity, but for what I simply and humbly am: a Brother of the OTO.

Thank you so much for your years of guidance, inspiration and leadership which not only showed our local membership that they DO have what it takes to rise to the occasion in the face of constant adversity, but also encouraged countless members nationwide to embrace the Work with all their being.

As I now take the mantle of Deputy Master, I hope to continue to serve our local community with as much tenacity, fervor and wisdom as you have during your leadership.

Here's to the start of further adventures in So Cal OTO with our wonderful local bodies: Blue Horizon Oasis, 93 Oasis, Golden Lotus Oasis and Heru Ra Ha Lodge, our new Lodge Master scorpio111, your continued friendship, and the occasional chicken curry.

I have created a group on LinkedIn with the intension of building a favorable reputation of Order members in the Professional World. In many areas of the country, Thelemites (especially in IT related professions) have presented themselves favorably among their employers. With the creation of this group, my goal is to further such awareness of employees who take their Professional work with the same sincerity and sense of responsibility as they do their spiritual lives and Work with the OTO.
